Tropical Storm Irene – Boston

After all the news, weather hype, and political photo ops; hurricane Irene, category 1, turned into a tropical storm by the time it reached Boston.  Thankfully Irene caused minimal damage in New England and we are used to northeasters and blizzards which can be more damaging.  Most of the photos I have seen of the destruction in the Boston area are downed trees and tree branches.  So here are my photos from my back yard.  The trees are old maples that are actually in the yard next door but drop big branches into my back yard often, even on sunny windless days.  Which is why I was a little apprehensive with all the wind.

The winds have died down but not totally subsided.
